Some thoughts about Vigilante: Southland #2

The seek for revenge doesn't end for Vigilante.

Doony is still trying to find who is responsible for his girlfriend's death and this will take him to some of the darkest places in the city.

On some points this is an improvement over the first issue, on others not so much.

Cary Phillips offers a new chapter where he continues to develope his ongoing mystery and in that regard he does it in a more effective way this time. There are several interesting events happening around Donny's girlfriend which explore different settings around the city that showcase a variety of personalities. The action and plot have really good pacing as well. In terms of story itself this was enjoyable.

On the other hand, where is the so hyped "political" tone? Yes, there are still a few mentions but nothing really deep that reflects the nature of the world. Again, I don't want anything blunt but more references would be nice. Also, you might have noticed that I haven't mentioned the name of Donny's girlfriend since I don't even remember her and this actually hurts the characterization since I don't buy Donny's motivations for revenge since his relationship with her was so poorly depicted.

Elena Casagrande handles the artwork and is pretty good looking with expressive characters and a dark tone that is a good fit for the premise.

Aside from that, is not a bad read but still one that doesn't reach its full potential.
