Some thoughts about The Flash #10

One of the most powerful villains in the world is back.

Barry is still trying to teach Wally about how to become a hero but he's not making things any easier. However, he will have to learn fast once that The Shade appears.

This issue initially worried me due that this is the first appearance of The Shade since the last miniseries made by James Robinson, the man who made him popular.

My fears were unwarranted since he's barely utilized here.

Yes, Joshua Williamson reintroduces him here and he apparently bases him on Robinson's portrayal but aside from a few scenes, he's barely relevant for the story here. I'm pretty sure that Williamson will explore more about his character and show what happened to him in the next issue but so far, this was mostly a teaser of what's about to come.

The characterization for the rest of the cast is solid. The dialogue can be a bit overwritten at times and lacking some sort of charm but it manages to show their personalities solidly and the development is logical while also creating a few subplots.

Felipe Watanabe is in charge of the pencils here and he does a solid, yet not particularly impressive job. At least not for a title like The Flash that relies in vibrant styles for the speed scenes. The characters are good looking though.

Not a bad issue but not exactly great, is serviceable I guess.
