Some thoughts about Trinity of Sin: Phantom Stranger: Futures End #1

The Phantom Stranger is finally going to be judged by his actions.

A new Council of Eternity has been formed and it consists of some of the most terrible enemies that the Phantom Stranger has made over the years. Now, will they treat him fairly or will they punish him for things he doesn't deserve?

This issue marks the conclusion of the series based on this classic supernatural character and it brings back Dan Didio, the original writer, to it. Does it succeeds at creating a compelling ending?

Well, I'm happy to say that it does.

Dan Didio is accompanied by J.M. DeMatteis in the writing once again and both do a pretty good job at bringing things to full circle for the Phantom Stranger by creating a situation where he will need to deal with the different characters he encounter over the course of the series as well as the different plot-points that were developed here.

The 5 Years Later setting of Futures End is barely mentioned but is for the better since this allows the authors to create a stand-slone tale that explores the kind of character the protagonist is as well as his place in the DCU.

Phil Winslade is handling the artwork and his style fits the story quite well thanks to its dark tone that depicts the scenes excellently.

A fitting ending for a highly underrated series. If you liked it in the past then this won't change your opinion.
