Some thoughts about The Multiversity: Society of Super-Heroes #1

If you're in trouble what else you can say but S.O.S.?

The Society of Super-Heroes lead by Doc Fate contains some of the most powerful and brave heroes from the world, maybe even from the universe, but are their abilities enough to stop a war that trascends realities and could not end with theirs?

The second issue from the biggest event that DC has released this year and I would dare to say that it's even better than the first one.

Grant Morrison introduces us to another earth, one that the original premise is based about reinventing characters from the Golden Age with a kind of pulp tone but it ultimately becomes much more than that.

I honestly think that this has simply become more than just one style and the writer decided to give all the characters a full reimagination to make them much more interesting. Doc Fate is clearly inspired by his original character and Doc Savage, but The Atom is more like his own thing instead of the classic Al Pratt while still maintaining some core characteristics, then is the Inmortal Man who is wonderfully reintroduced after years of absense and is given a whole new personality, and Abin Sur might be one of my favorite versions of him yet, just a pretty logical and fitting incarnation for this universe.

Then there are some pretty fitting situations here like scenes between Vandal Savage and the Inmortal Man, Felix Faust Vs. Doc Fate and mentions of battles between Abin Sur and Sinestro. Just wonderful stuff.

And of course, there's music. Always music.

Chris Sprouse is in charge of the artwork and his work is stunning. He manages to capture Morrison's script perfectly thanks to his excellent storytelling techniques and beautiful style.

A content-packed and just magnificent read. Don't miss it for anything in the world.
