Some thoughts about Justice League United: Futures End #1

The Justice League United has disbanded a long time ago, how will their member be able to face a threat that affects all of them?

Equinox is still living as a superhero despite of what happened to most of her colleagues, but after receiving a message from Martian Manhunter, she will need to convince all the people she can to try to stop one of the most powerful beings in the universe.

Jeff Lemire continues his work in both Justice League United and Futures End and manages to create a lot of interesting ideas while doing so.

For one Equinox finally receives the kind of spotlight that it was promised since the beginning of this series and demonstrates to be a quite solid character at that. The characterization is spot-on for the rest of the cast since all of them have the kind of voice you would expect from them.

The writer utilizes the 5 years later setting to develope a lot of sub-plots that are going to happen in the upcoming issues from this own series including the appearances of members from the Legion of Super-Heroes and new villains.

Oh, and it was good to see that character back at the end even if it was in that state.

Jeff Dougherty is on art duties and while his storytelling techniques are nice, his style is not that attractive unfortunately. The characters don't look as beautiful as when Mike McKone draws them.

Overall, this was still a pretty good issue and is just the first part of a story that is going to continue in Justice League next week.
