Some thoughts about Green Arrow: Futures End #1

Green Arrow is dead, long live Green Arrow.

After the passing of her brother, Emiko Queen had no other choice but assuming the mantle of the Emerald Archer. However, one should know that not even death would be able to stop a survivor like Oliver Queen and now that they're all together, they're decided to stop the threat that is affecting the whole world.

Everything comes in full circle and does it in a beautiful way.

Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino brought a new level of creativity that it has never been seen in this title since their arrival with issue 17 and this chapter is no different.

Lemire not only manages to come-up with one of his strongest scripts yet but does it in way that makes sense considering the events that happen 5 Years Later after the normal continuity. This is a Futures End tie-in of course and the writer exploits it the best way possible by utilizing one of the most important plot-points he introduced on the weekly series like whatever happened to Oliver Queen.

Speaking of Oliver Queen, I'm surprised about how true this rings to the character. This is pretty much the pitch-perfect characterization of the character, every line he says simply screams "Oliver Queen" and I absolutely loved it.

Of course Andrea Sorrentino was here and I'm still amazed about how consistent he was during all this run by not missing even a single issue, that's just incredible. He once again brings the level of creativity and wonderful storytelling that makes this series as great as it was and he uses most of the characters he helped create. Marcelo Maiolo once again helps him with colors that completely fit the atmosphere.

Excellent issue. I said it before and I will say it again, I'm going to miss all of you people.
