Can Getaway get any more hateful?
The new Captain of the Lost Light is getting rid of people who disagree with him left and right, even people who used to be on his own side but that even that might not be enough to stop their quest.
Man, this went dark pretty quickly.
James Roberts offers the final issue of this little storyarc by making Getaway rapidly descend into madness. The crew is getting more rebellious and Getaway is losing more and more followers. Roberts manages to create a story with great pacing that explores how wrong things have gone for everyone involved here.
Getaway is clearly the biggest culprit as usual. At some points you might think that the author is willing to give him some sort of moral dilemma, some kind of regret about his previous actions (particularly concerning what happened to his old partner, Skids). However, those doubts get quickly thrown out of the window since Getaway somehow gets even more despicable, killing people who are already incapacitated to the point that even Atomizer, who never showed any kind of conscience before, starts to question his decisions, all of this escalates to the gruesome ending where nobody gets what they deserve.
Some parts don't work quite well though. The Scavengers section is fun and all but doesn't match with the rest of the story and mostly seems like an interlude preparing readers for things to come.
Jack Lawrence handles the main story while Andrew Griffith draws The Scavengers segment and both of them do a great job during their respective scenes.
Great stuff aside from a few nitpicks. Getaway is irredeemable now.
