Can Superman save Apokolips?
Clark and his family have finally been reunited in this doomed planet just in time to try to give something that its people has never experienced: Hope.
Well, this was an appropriate conclusion at least.
Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason offer the final chapter of this storyline by coming by pretty predictable, yet logical developments. There are charming scenes consisting of the Superman family, the writers really know how to make their interactions engaging and at the end, is shown that even in the worst moments and places, one can always have faith in the future.
The thing is that this mostly seemed like a set-up for upcoming stories considering what happens at the end. It seemed like they were just preparing the new status quo for this line of books and is a shame since I believe that this story had more potential than what was actually delivered and I feel is a bit too soon to end a direction for a character that ocurred since the beginning of Rebirth.
Doug Mahnke handles the art and is as good as always thanks to his distinctive style and solid storytelling.
Not bad but definitely could have been better.
