Can Bruce live with the creature he has inside?
Bruce is trying to use his recently-found powers to help others but he will soon realize that he's playing with a dangerous force.
This miniseries continues and is getting more and more interesting.
Kurt Busiek delivers a new chapter from his Elseworlds Batman story and delivers the classic complex writing that you would expect. The analogues between this and Busiek's own Superman: Secret Identity get more evident although the writer is wise enough to create a strong between the two. Bruce's abilities initially give him the kind of justice and power he always wanted and his whole life works better because of it but of course, not everything can be perfect.
This is nicely depicted in Bruce's portrayal. He's basically just a normal young man even after the events that changed his life, he's far from the expected grim version of Bruce Wayne and this is for the better since it allows Busiek to explore aspects of Bruce's life that he couldn't do with the classic character like his relationships with women and the rest of the people who influence his path. This is executed effectively from beginning to end and the end makes things much more complicated than expected.
John Paul Leon remains in pencils and his work is still quite appropriate for the script thanks to his clear storytelling and distinctive style that is able to mix classic comic book tones and dark atmospheres really well.
Solid read, can't wait for the next one.
