Some thoughts about Red Hood: Outlaw #49

The Outlaws are done at last.

Jason has just found his first team from the past and now they all together will have to survive the Chamber of All.

Scott Lobdell's run on these characters is coming to an end and he's closing the door in quite a few ways.

The characterization is on-point showing once again how much Lobdell knows this cast and how much respect he has for them. Is a shame he wasn't able to work on characters like Roy Harper or Starfire again but the fact that he was able to bring at least a past version of them into the story allows for some sense of closure for Jason and his relationship with them (especially with Roy who died for very stupid reasons).

There's also a decent conclusion for Bizarro, demonstrating he always was the heart of this incarnation of the Outlaws. The action is fast and the story progresses appropriately. The issues are the classic overexposition you can find in Lobdell's work but is not too bothersome.

Paolo Pantalena handles the art and is solid with a kinetic style and inventive storytelling.

Decent pernultimate chapter. Hope the conclusion is satisfying.
