Some thoughts about Batman/Superman Annual #1

Who will really win in a battle between Superman and Batman?

Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite are having a discussion between who is the greatest hero of all and this will lead them to manipulate the entire reality to prove it.

A new Annual has arrived and Joshua Williamson utilizes this opportunity to create and simple, yet fun story.

Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite are the protagonists here just as much as Superman and Batman and show how much of a fanboys they can be. They really act like children during the whole tale by making their own personal heroes compete and it's pretty entertaining to see the lengths they're able to go to demonstrate who is truly superior. Is pretty much kids' fanfiction being printed.

The best part though is how both Clark and Bruce become aware of what's truly happening and start breaking the fourth wall which is the only way they can defeat this incredibly powerful fans. All of this concluding in an enjoyable wink to the readers.

Greg Melnikov, Dale Eaglesham and Clayton Henry handle the art and they all do a solid job during their respective scenes but the more cartoony styles are more fitting for the tone of the plot.

Good read, Williamson is on a roll lately.
