Some thoughts about Batman #99

Who is going to help Batman now?

The Joker's plans are coming to fruition and now Bruce will need all of his allies to have a chance against his nemesis but even then, the Joker might be too unpredictable for everyone.

Set-up chapter, not a bad one but that's what it is.

James Tynion IV is about to conclude this derivative storyline in a way that should make everyone happy from a character standpoint at the very least. First of all, Dick Grayson/Nightwing returns, I haven't been reading his solo series for a while now but apparently Dick got his memories back and the only thing that Tynion provides here is the return of his costume, is handled in a rather simplistic way and I'm afraid that Tynion will get credit for fixing a editorial problem despite that he did very little here. Hell, Nightwing doesn't even do anything here, he just gets his suit back, that's all.

Second, the story escalates appropriately but it mostly serves to put all the key characters in place for the final battle and everything will depend on how that is handled. For that reason the issue seems rather short and like not much happened.

Jorge Jimenez handles the art and is pretty good as expected with a vibrant and energetic style that gets the best from every scene.

Not feeling this, let's see how everything ends.
