Some thoughts about Wonder Woman #759

Who is Wonder Woman?

Diana has gotten several identities over her life but now that she's trying to start a new life, she will realize that some of her old enemies just won't let her go on.

I must say that I was kinda apprehensive to yet another chance to another Wonder Woman run. After, things haven't been the best since Brian Azzarello left the title with the initially promising but ultimately disappointing Greg Rucka's run being basically the start of several letdowns (Tried a few of Steve Orlando's issues but didn't really quite grab me which is not that much of a surprise how much of a hit and miss writer Orlando has been in recent years).

That being said, I have liked some of the books that Mariko Tamaki has worked on in the past so I was willing to give this new beginning a chance and fortunately, so far, so good.

Tamaki opens by emphasizing a few important aspects of Wonder Woman as a character which fortunately never reach the point of overglorifying her, they are all just accurate while at the same time offering a new life with a new supporting cast which seem fairly interesting so far. The dialogue contributes nicely to all this thanks to the natural lines the cast have as well as the charming moments the author provides,

This is not the main focus though since a mysterious force is controlling people around the world and is up to Diana to figure out who they are. This also allows for Diana to showcase the trust and compassion she has for people which is, again, pretty on-point characterization which ultimately leads to an encounter with an old enemy that has all the right to be considered in Wonder Woman's rogues gallery.

Mikel Janin is yet another reason why I wanted to give this new run a chance since I love his artwork and he doesn't disappoint here. His characters are beautiful while his storytelling is as creative as usual, wonderful panels everywhere that follow the plot perfectly.

Promising beginning, hope things stay this way.
