Some thoughts about Death Metal #2

How can the Justice League fix the universe?

Wonder Woman believes she killed the Batman who Laughs but what she doesn't know is that she just unleashed something even worse.

I knew that the Batman who Laughs dying was too good to be true and I knew that Scott Snyder's fanboyism for the damn thing was too strong to let him go away.

I'm probably going into full spoiler territory here but I just have to warn people, the Batman who Laughs is not dead, he has just been recreated into an even more powerful form called the Darkest Knight (which was the name of an Elseworlds character and is a shame this asshole took it) because surely what this overused Villain Sue needed was more power. This is just too predictable and cringey to even take it seriously.

The plot progresses at a typical Snyder's pace with a lot of explanation taking the spot of "progression". It's mostly a set-up for what's about to happen in upcoming issues which for an event comic is just not good, it feels like a lot of padding for the most part (and considering how Snyder's events were handled in the future, I'm not expecting the dragged story to pay off).

If there's something positive here is the usual references to the broader Multiverse including the JSA and yes, the last Metal event which at least gives it a good sense of continuity.

Greg Capullo's artwork is beautiful with a lot of detail and polish, being able to depict every scene perfectly.

Shouldn't have expected better, not expectations next.
