Some thoughts about Batgirl #27

Is this the end of Batgirl?

Barbara has suffered a terrible injury that has caused the loss of some of her best skills and this is the worst time possible since Grotesque's murders continue.

This run is in progress and so far is still pretty solid.

Mairghread Scott delivers a new chapter where she plays with the ramifications of the last one. Barbara is losing her mental capabilities and I really enjoy how Scott is implementing that particular plot-point, the idea that Babs fears the loss of her mind more than the loss of her own legs really seems in character for her, especially based on her history and how important her intelligence has been during her time as Oracle. This is the kind of on-point characterization I was hoping for.

The relationship with her father is also well-executed. If there's something I always appreciated about Scott's work, even during her Transformers books, was the dynamic between characters and here the interaction between father and daughter is sound. Even Grotesque gets a new more interesting motivation that gives the villain more depth and is explained he's so different from the first time they fought.

Paul Pelletier handles the art and is really appealing thanks to the beautiful and expressive characters along with the precise storytelling.

Good issue and full of content, hope things stay this way.
