Behold the miracle of life.
Big Barda is about to give birth and she will need the support her whole family to do so.
Man, this issue touched a lot of interesting themes.
Tom King jumps straight from the plot-point he created in the last issue with Barda announcing that she was pregnant to her now going into labor. Mind you, this robs us from the potential of seeing how that time developes the relationship between Scott and her but on the other hand, King still does a quite competent job at making you care about their fate and their son.
This is particularly obvious during the conversations between Scott and Barda. As I've mentioned since the beginning, this series shines when King focuses on the relationship between these two characters instead of trying so hard to deliver pretentious material and this is a perfect example of that. The way how both talk to one another is quite natural and pretty fitting considering they're about to be parents, discussing the name of their child, the presence of Barda's family and showing how much they care for each other during the whole proccess makes a quite wonderful read.
Mitch Gerards once again elevates King's script thanks to his creative storytelling that makes every little panel important based on the expressions of the characters and the environments.
Great stuff, hope the next one doesn't take so long this time.
