Does Batwoman still have a family?
Kate has been trying to figure out if one of her ex-lovers has kidnapped her sister. However, the truth might be even worse than that.
Yeah, I still refuse to memorize any of the characters from that boring island so I'm going to keep refering to them as "exes".
I just don't see the point of even remember them since they're barely memorable as they appear. Marguerite Bennett has simply done a pretty poor job at creating interest in that new "world" she invented in the first arc, one that was so dull that most people simply dropped the book and stopped paying attention to it. I wish she would have learned from her mistakes and would have focused on more interesting ideas but sadly she keeps giving attention to characters that don't deserve it.
Worst of all, this makes me realize that the whole theme that made Batwoman unique in the Batuniverse, the supernatural direction, has been absent since this book started and instead we have gotten purely generic and extremely tedious stories. Even Marc Andreyko's sometimes erratic run understood that the series needed its supernatural concept and speaking of which, I'm not a fan of how Beth seems to be back to her villainous ways when it seemed like she was going to be redeemed during Andreyko's run.
Fernando Blanco's art is the highlight thanks to his unique and gothic style that creates great storytelling.
Other than that, completely skippable issue and book. Just waiting for something new.
