Some thoughts about Green Lanterns #42

Is up to the Green Lanterns to save the kidnapped superheroes.

A mysterious cult has been using the dating apps to capture metahumans and now Simon and Jessica will have to infiltrate their headquarters to liberate everyone.

Another chapter, another satisfying read.

Tim Seeley offers a new installment where he continues to explore these characters and how they deal with a situation like this. The character work is great due that we see more little hints about both Simon and Jess including how they handle their religion in different ways, I'm glad that Seeley didn't go with the stereotypical way of making Jess a really devoted Catholic just because she's Hispanic unlike other writers (Looking at you Tom King with Kyle Rayner) while the bond between the two protagonist keeps getting stronger (although I still hope they don't go into a relationship).

The plot itself plays with many themes including the already mentioned dating app but also showcases the appearance of many obscure superheroes including quite a few created by Grant Morrison which is not odd considering how much of a fan Seeley is.

V. Ken Marion is in charge of the pencils and his work keep improving with each new series, now his characters look much more refined and his storytelling is clearer.

Great stuff, hope the next one arrives soon.
