The battle for the throne never ends.
Ocean Master has just learned that Arthur is no longer the King of Atlantis and is ready to become their leader once again but Mera won't let that happen.
This miniseries continues and does it in a decent but a bit predictable way.
Dan Abnett is following one of the ideas that Geoff Johns left unexplored when he left the Aquaman and Justice League books, the fate of Ocean Master and his place in the event Rise of the Seven Seas. Mind you, it seems like Johns still wants to take part of the latter story so Abnett is just addressing what happened to Orm and the characterization is appropriate enough since it follows a pretty logical development for him after finding a family on the surface and finding peace with them.
The thing is that, like most superhero stories, the confrontation between these characters escalates a bit too quickly. For example, in the Throne of Atlantis event the battle between Arthur and Orm started because they were manipulated by Vulko but here it just starts because Orm won't accept Mera as the Queen which is not necessarily out of character but still happens way too fast and it just seems included because they needed some sort of battle scene. On the other hand, this also leads to an interesting cliffhanger for Orm so it might be justified.
Lan Medina remains in art duties and his work is pretty solid with a clean style and expressive characters.
Nice enough read but hope the next one is a little better.
