Bane is back!
Batman is looking for the Psycho-Pirate but he will need to face the hordes of Bane and he doesn't even understand how powerful he can be.
"Refuse to turn him over and I will break your damn back"
Well, what a weird thing to say...
"Refuse to turn him over and I will break your damn back"
Oooooh, I see where this is going...
"Refuse to turn him over and I will break your damn back"
*Bane breaks Batman's back*
Well, now that we're over with that, can we stop saying that...
"Refuse to turn him over and I will break your damn back"
I guess not.
"NOW we break his damn back"
FINALLY! As long as that's clear enough right?
"Bane is back" indeed.
Yeah, Tom King has outdone himself with the repetition here and the problems is that it becomes quite predictable where this is going since the beginning. Pushing an awkward phrase so he can deliver the effect that he wants so much despite of how forced and unnatural it can be.
Hell, even the way how Selina starts describing her origin can sound pretty unnatural despite that is apparently a logical explanation. She simply doesn't narrate as a normal person would and once again, it becomes pretty noticeable and obnoxious pretty fast.
Mikel Janin handles the artwork and for some reason is not as good as usual, the style is not as clean or polished as his previous works. The storytelling remains strong though.
The plot is okay, the pacing is okay, the characterization is okay (at least in some points). The intention is okay but the execution is ultimately tiring and off.
