Some thoughts about The Infected: King Shazam #1

Shazam is going to destroy the world.

Billy has been infected by The Batman who Laughs and now is willing to take over all the other Gods unless his family stops him.

The Infected tie-ins begin and, while most of the Year of the Villain one-shots have been interesting enough, this is one of the most by the numbers tie-ins recenly.

Sina Grace handles this story that deals with a deranged Billy Batson ready to unleash his rage around everyone but it ultimately concludes in constant fight sequence and doesn't contribute much beyond that. Everything that you could expect from this issue is what you get, Billy is infected by the "evil" virus, he starts defeating a few superpowered beings, Mary tries to calm him down only for things to not be over yet. Everything is so predictable, even the scene where Billy tries to trick Mary asking her for help.

There are a few things that could be acceptable like the appearance of a few Gods but considering that they pretty much came out of nowhere, their introduction seems pretty lackluster and not handled with the required importance.

Joe Bennett handles the art and is solid at least with expressive characters and clear storytelling.

Aside from that, perfectly skippable.
