Some thoughts about Batman/Superman #4

Who are the Secret Six?

The plans of The Batman who Laughs are coming into fruition and now he's gathering a bunch of infected superheroes to deal with Bruce and Clark.

This series continues to be pretty damn solid.

Joshua Williamson delivers a new installment and he creates quite a few interesting moments. The infected superheroes reveal deep and personal feelings they all kept secret for a while like how Donna is holding a grudge for how the Titans were terribly handled before, how Jim Gordon resents Batman for disappearing on him and how the infected Hawkman actually turns into the Earth 3 version of himself which makes sense considering his multiple reincarnations. This demonstrates Williamson's classic love and respect for continuity, offering really strong character work based on even bad directions.

The plot doesn't progress much and doesn't offer many surprises about who is going to be the next infected one but the pacing, portrayals and action scenes are well-handled and compensate for it.

David Marquez remains in art duties and his work is still great with a clean style, clear expressions and strong storytelling.

Good read, hope the next one arrives soon.
