Some thoughts about Runaways #3

The band needs to be back together.

The team has decided to come back for Karolina but she might have other plans since she apparently has found happiness now.

Hey, this is actually getting better.

Rainbow Rowell delivers a new chapter focusing on further exploring the relationship between the characters while reintroducing one of the most important from the team. The reintroduction of Karolina seems pretty in-character (mind you, I haven't been following in the last few years) with her finally having a normal life with a normal girlfriend. However, it gets pretty obvious pretty quickly that things are not going as perfect as she wants to believe.

This is where some of the best moments from the issue begins due that her reaction to seeing Gert alive again, and even more surprising, seeing Nico again have a lot of potential. Fans of the series might remember that Karolina always had a crush on Nico and I don't know if the writer is playing with subtext here but it seems like they want to introduce something new in this dynamic. The good aspects don't end there since there's also a dilemma about the amount of years that have happened between Gert's death and present time which apparently make Chase too old for her now (although I'm not sure if that many years have passed considering how Marvel continuity works).

Kris Anka's artwork is wonderful, really expressive characters and vibrant scenarios constantly appear here.

I think I'm starting to like this series, hope it keeps improving.
