Some thoughts about Strange Adventures #8

Is time to face the truth.

Mister Terrific and Batman's investigation has taken them to confront a strange alien who has some of the worst secrets of Adam Strange.

Well, we finally got some revelations all right.

I have been digging Tom King's Strange Adventures as you will notice because of its inclusion in my Top Ten Best DC Comics of 2020 list but one of my biggest criticisms about it is how slow of a story it is. Well, this issue is going to remedy a bit of that by giving us one of the biggest developments in the plot so far.

Once again, the parallels between past and present play a huge factor in how the story progresses, this time though, the past segment is devoted to Adam's actions on Rann while Mister Terrific and Batman handle the case in the present. This allows for a pretty good sense of escalation in which most of the pages offer memorable moments that depict each of the characters perfectly and even bringing some kinda comedic scenes around the way (something very rare for King).

This is all of course to create the final twist that was something that most of us kinda saw coming considering how the plot was progressing so far but is cool to see an actual confirmation here, one that is actually justified based on the character dynamics we have seen.

Mitch Gerads and Doc Shaner continue in art duties and their work is still great in their very different styles. I don't know which one I actually like more.

Good read, hope there's a good pay-off from this.
