Some thoughts about Future State: Wonder Woman #1

Who is Yara Flor?

An Amazon is lost in a jungle because of an old friend and now both will have to go through hell to find the person she lost.

This week is full of Future State issues and while so far the quality of the line has been mixed, I'm happy to announce this is one of the best.

Joelle Jones introduces us to the new Wonder Woman, Yara Flor, someone who has been heavily hyped for a while now and yes, yes, I usually dislike this kind of strategy to sell a new character but there's very little to dislike here as a whole. Yara is probably one of the most likable new heroes so far, she's relatable, funny, strong and competent, I would say that she's even more enjoyable than Diana for me right now. The other character who is presented here is also pretty entertaining and her interactions with Yara are quite funny.

The plot is pretty simple, is about Yara trying to save a friend from the Underworld and while the story is nothing groundbreaking, the situations around it make it worth reading thanks to the amusing scenes they provide.

Jones' artwork is probably even more impressive because of her beautiful style with gorgeous characters and precise storytelling. I don't know if she designed Yara but I must say is a great looking work too.

Good read, can't wait for the next issue.
