Some thoughts about Batman #7

There are bigger monsters to face now.

Hugo Strange's plans are coming to fruition and he's ready to unleash his horde of creatures against Batman and his team. How will they be able to survive this?

A new Batman crossover has just began, the first from the DC Rebirth initiative in fact. It might have been a bit too fast for yet another event for the line but so far, I believe this is an interesting story.

Steve Orlando and Tom King deliver the story that started pretty much since the beginning of this title in particular, about Hugo Strange and his plans to destroy Gotham City and Batman with his Monster Men. The premise itself is quite fitting for the kind of tone they're going for, the plot manages to fit into the whole cinematic direction that was popularized by Scott Snyder during New 52 Batman and fortunately, Orlando's sense of presentation and pacing brings the best of it.

The characterization works nicely with the cast still dealing with the fact that Tim Drake is dead. There are several mentions about their previous histories including the fact that Batwoman is the one especialized in the supernatural. The snappy dialogue manages to pull off these interactions perfectly.

Riley Rossmo handles art duties and I missed him for a while now. His work was the best aspect from the last Constantine series and he manages to evoke the whole tone of the plot perfectly with great storytelling and a quite distinctive style.

Solid beginning, hope the next chapter is just as good.
