How could Harleen Quinzel love the Joker?
Harley is getting more and more involved with her patient to the point that his manipulative side is reaching her and is becoming more dangerous.
This series continues and it gets much more complex.
Stjepan Sejic offers a new installment where he explores how Harleen fell in love with the Joker. The dynamic between the two is nicely emphasized because of the situation they both represent, not only from one another but also about Gotham as a whole. The Joker represents Gotham at its cruelest and step by step with how the city is getting closer to his point of view even if it might seem all the contrary, both sides are losing and killing each other, both sides are getting more and more insane.
This is seen from the perspective of the protagonist and how her emotions are reflected on everyone around her and how all of them are changing her own mentality. The characterization is solid and there are a few moments of fanservice, of course Sejic couldn't help but include a scene between Harley and Ivy.
Is not perfect though since although is an interesting read and offers a lot of content, I feel like scenes tend to overexplain a few points by either repeating the dialogue or emphasizing too much via the artwork.
The artwork is beautiful don't get me wrong and Sejic definitely knows how to create great looking characters even when they're horrible on the inside (and sometimes outside), the storytelling is solid for the most part too.
Good read overall, let's see how it goes on.
