What are the Magiclands?
Billy and his family have arrived to the Funlands not knowing the dangers that could bring and things are going to get worse once that they arrive in other mysterious places.
This issue has delivered much more content thankfully.
Geoff Johns offers a new installment where he delivers more of his classic worldbuilding. The true nature of the Funlands is revealed and, just as I suspected, is not as good as it seemed. Mind you, Johns manages to create an interesting background for it and a solid motivation for the antagonist for wanting to be part of the Shazam family.
This leads to an even more interesting ideas though since King Kid reveals what's the focus of the other Lands and how all of this is connected to Mr. Mind and his monsters (which is a clear reference to the Monster Society of Evil). Not to mention that we see a glance of what they all can be which seem to be centered to classic Captain Marvel mythos like how the Wildlands might be connected to Tawky Tawny.
Dale Eaglesham, Marco Santucci and Mayo Sen Naito share the pencils here and while Eaglesham does a solid job, I wish Naito was drawing the book full time, the more Mangaesque style is much more fitting to the themes concerning childhood of the story.
Overall, pretty good chapter. Hope the next one arrives sooner.
