What is happening in Hawkworld?
The Justice League has decided to explore Thanagar to search for answers about the secrets of the Nth Metal but they're about to find more than they expected.
This issue showed a lot of developments at the very least.
Scott Snyder is accompanied by James Tynion IV to deliver a story centered around the Hawkman mythos and I'm glad that's the case since I love when the series focuses on lesser-known characters. The worldbuilding is pretty solid due that Thanagar is shown as a pretty intriguing place while the connection between Kendra and Shayera Hol is immediately established and explains why both can exist at the same time despite of their history of reincarnations and speaking of which, this also allows for the appearance of a character that most people believed gone.
Not all is perfect though since, as usual, Tynion's narration can be so overwritten that is just obnoxious and leaves the art very little space to breath. I wish he found a better way to tell a story aside from overexposition.
Jim Cheung and Stephen Segovia share the pencils and their work is really consistent during the course of the story with strong expressions and a vibrant style.
Solid ideas, not so good execution. Hope the next one is a bit better.
