The Dark Knight, The King of the Seven Seas and the Princess of Tamaran's origins told from a new perspective.
What exactly did Bruce Wayne felt when his parents were murdered, how was Arthur Curry's life before and after the death of his father and how did Koriand'r became the person she is now. You will learn all those details and more in this new interpretation of their early days.
Once again, the Secret Origins series focuses on telling stories that most people already know from some of the most famous DC superheroes but fortunately they also present an interesting twist that still makes them worth reading.
Ray Fawkes is in charge of the first segment dedicated to Batman where he explores some interesting aspects about Bruce's personality while also touching several of the plot-points developed on Scott Snyder's Zero Year storyline, all of that in just a few pages, that's pretty impressive. Dustin Nguyen handles the artwork here and he does an excellent job at telling the story with an unique and gothic style.
Jeff Parker writes the second section of the issue focusing on Aquaman and his early life with his father as well as the consequences of his death. The characterization is pretty good here by exploring the events with much more detail than before and giving new insights about Arthur's life as well as a good sense of closure at the end, a really well told story overall. Alvaro Martinez is in charge of the pencils for this tale and he does a pretty solid job at telling the story with solid character models.
Scott Lobdell concentrates on Starfire in the third segment and he actually delivers a competent retelling of his origin story while giving new details of her years as a prisoner and her eventual freedom. Paulo Siqueira handles the pencils in this section and his work is outstanding, really beautiful and clear art.
Overall, I would say that I liked Fawkes' story the most, followed by Parker's and Lobdell's in third place but all of them did a pretty good job at this origins which provide a superior issue than the first one.
