Riverdale continues to be under attack by the zombie invasion, how can the people from this town survive?
The survivors are still hiding in the Veronica's manor but the tension is starting to grow and the people inside may start to be harmful to one another. Archie has seen some of the most important persons of his life being killed by these beings and he can't take no more, there's only one way to save themselves and they don't have other choice but accept it.
Ths series continues to deliver a quite nightmarish yet strangely realistic take in these characters.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa continues to create an engaging and horrific story that creates conflict in all the members from the cast and shows us a different perspective for all of them. Aguirre-Sacasa is not playing safe here, he's using this premise on his favor to exploit the best he can and it's certainly paying-off, we would never see this kind of portrayal for these characters in the regular Archie universe and that's actually something pretty compelling to behold.
I mean, forget about the whole zombie apocalypse, think about all the serious drama this series brings and the delicate themes that it uses: Murder, homophobia, betrayal, incest, etc. There are some really powerful concepts and makes this depiction of Archie's universe more realistic than ever.
Francesco Francavilla continues to deliver some of the most horrific and beautiful work I've seen by being able to make the characters expressive and terrifying when he needs to in a setting that really fits the tone of this story.
Another excellent issue and sets-up the stage for the next arc which sounds pretty interesting so far.
