Some thoughts about Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man #1

Miles Morales has survived one of the biggest catastrophes that he could have ever imagined, how could he go on?

Life has never been easy for Miles, especially recently after the attack of the world eater Galactus to his universe and the disappearance of his father. The only sense of normalcy he can find is in his current relationship with his girlfriend Katie Bishop, but things are about to get even more complicated than ever when the last person he was expecting will come back to his life.

This is the beginning from the relaunched series based on Miles Morales, the successor of Peter Parker, The Ultimate Spider-Man. I must say that I have been a fan of Brian Bendis' work in the whole property since he started with Peter and I also really enjoyed it when Miles took over the mantle despite of Peter's fate. Can Brian Bendis work his magic once again in this new series?

Based on the first issue I would say he definitely can. One of the strongest points of Bendis' work in Ultimate Spider-Man has always been about how all the characters that were in the books interacted with each other and complemented their personalities and this new series is no different so far. Miles has a pretty good supporting cast that helps him find the solution to his personal problems in pretty reasonable ways, it's pretty well crafted character work and dialogue that makes you invested automatically in the cast.

But of course, this is a superhero comic and there certainly are superhero dilemmas concerning the plot and they're also really well explored. The threats are also being introduced and one of the worst is rising once again.

Also, the last page was quite the surprise and makes me want the next issue already.

David Marquez is on artwork and his style is perfectly suited for this series. It's a mix between classic and realistic styles that also delivers great expressions for all the characters and does it beautifully.

Extremely satisfied with this jumping-on point, my favorite Ultimate comic so far.
