Cyclops is about to live his childhood with his father just like he always wished for, but it's not exactly what he imagined.
Young Scott Summers is currently stuck in the present after the last space mission with the original X-Men and he's now under the custody of his father Corsair. Could this become the kind of father/son relationship that both of them always dreamed?
This is the beginning of a new ongoing series based in the leader of the X-Men (or at least his younger version), Cyclops. I have been a fan of the character for a long time and I'm glad about how his popularity has increased in recent years and, despite that this is not exactly the kind of story I was hoping for him, I must say that this is still a pretty solid one.
Greg Rucka is in charge of handling this new premise and he certainly does a nice job at portraying how a teenager would enjoy the life of a space pirate, it's a pretty fun concept that certainly brings many possibilities.
The father/son dynamics are also compelling. Both Cyclops and Corsair are learning about each other and how to understand the kind of experiences they had, it's pretty on-point considering their respective stories.
Russell Dauterman is on art duties and he was one of the main reasons why I picked this book. His work is beautifully expressive and appealing with an almost cartoony style that tells the story quite adequately. He absolutely reached my expectations.
Solid starting point I would say. Let's see how future issues develope this premise.
