Some thoughts about Red Hood: Outlaw #35

Can Red Hood face an old friend?

Essence is back Jason for one last time but he has learned a lot since the last time they met. Although that's far from his only problem.

This felt like an interlude issue but still got the job done.

Scott Lobdell handles a new chapter where he continues the classic character work that defines this book. The way how Jason reflects about his current relationship with his new allies makes a lot of sense, particularly how he compares it to his previous friends while at the same time developes a few of the other characters.

The fight against Essence is also something that I believe needed to happen considering it was an unsolved plot-point but at the same time, it kinda lacks a big of importance in the grand scheme of things and feels a bit out of place in the current story. Still, is enjoyable enough.

Pete Woods remains in art duties and his work is still solid thanks to his expressive characters and clear storytelling.

Decent read, hope the cliffhanger delivers next time.
