The end is about to come.
Batwoman is finally facing her father for his actions and everything depends on Tim Drake. However, some of them won't be able to reunite after it.
Okay, this is technically not a bad ending but it still feels like a cop out.
James Tynion IV brings the final chapter of his initial storyarc by focusing on to things: The conflict between Batwoman and her father and the fate of Tim Drake. The first aspect is handled solidly enough, despite that I still don't like this new direction for Kate's dad, the scenes are intense and the emotional investment feel real.
The second segment is a bit more complicated. The rumours were just slightly right, Tim Drake dies in this issue but not in the way one would expect. The final scenes with Tim saying goodbye to everyone and how Batman feels at the end of it learning that he was about to retire are appropriate which makes for a pretty nice sequence overall.
The thing is that all of this is connected to the whole Rebirth premise. Tim pretty much dies the way New 52 Superman died, all of this is related to Mr. Oz which means that Tim is not really dead, he's just absent and captured by the mysterious character... which doesn't have anything to do with the story being told and comes out of nowhere. Is a pretty poor course of action.
Eddy Barrows is in charge of the pencils and is appropriate for the ending with all the big moments being executed nicely and the style being adequately gothic.
Not a bad finale per se but one with big flaws in its resolution.
