How will Batgirl and the Birds of Prey find Oracle?
Commisioner Gordon can't help but worry about how Barbara is putting herself in danger but she knows that her and her team can handle this but it might be more difficult than expected.
Oh boy, this went pretty heavy-handed and one-sided pretty quickly.
Julie and Shawna Benson arrive with a new chapter where they continue their ongoing mystery about the identity of the new Oracle. The character interaction is compelling enough with most of the cast demonstrating their own personalities and skill based on their conversations and fights which can work in certain aspects but in others feel a bit forced. The plot progresses adequately but unfortunately there is not as much progress as in the last issue.
The biggest problem is how blunt and overly awkward some of the themes here are. How do you think the writers depict Jim Gordon being worried about Batgirl? Being concerned about his daughter is putting her life in danger in yet another mission?
Of course not because that would make a lot of sense. Suddenly is about how he doesn't trust them to handle this because they're giiiiirrrrrlllllsssss and feels like men could handle this better. This is particularly blatant because Barbara herself says so in multiple times. Leaving alone the fact that this is a pretty strange change of character for Babs since she never felt this way before, the old team never had to say such things to prove a point, they just did with their own actions. That's all what is needed at the end.
Claire Roe and Roge Antonio handle the artwork and is consistent at the very least I feel, the storytelling is solid enough despite that the style is not particularly pretty.
Not one of the best written chapters quite frankly. Hope things get better.
