Some thoughts about The Flash #764

What are Dr. Alchemy's plans?

One of Barry's oldest enemies is back but what he doesn't know is that he might have learned a few new tricks over the years.

This filler run continues and is not bad but not particularly great either.

I was pleasently surprised by Kevin Shinick's opening issue but this one leaves a bit to be desired. The story is centered around the return of Dr. Alchemy which I think is a nice idea due that he's one of the least utilized Rogues. However, I don't think the writer quite nails his portrayal due that he's more talkative than his usual self, in fact he acts like most of the other Rogues like Captain Cold, Trickster and Mirror Master when during previous appearances he was depicted as a quiet and thoughtful person. Sure, he's competent here but that doesn't make the characterization right (and I think is a missed opportunity to not reference his second personality as Mister Element).

The plot is not that relevant either due that is all about the villain becoming more powerful and Barry being unable to stop him, that's all. I really hope that the next issue offers something more interesting.

Will Conrad handles the art and really love his work but I think his style might be a bit too stiff for The Flash.

Passable but the next one better be better.
