Some thoughts about Young Justice #13

Can Young Justice save Superboy?

Conner has arrived to Skartaris and his only hope is to follow its Warlord. Now if the team want to help their friend, they will need extra help themselves.

As usual, flawed read.

Brian Bendis and David Walker offer a new installment where they play with the idea of Superboy being lost in the savage land of Skartaris. The biggest problem here is concerning the Warlord who sounds way too much like your usual Bendis character with an overly "normal" dialogue that doesn't differentiate him from many of the characters appearing here. Plus, a lot of the issue is wasted on flashbacks that don't contribute anything to the plot.

However, there are some fun scenes concerning the involvement of the characters from the Wonder Comics line although at the same time, it doesn't feel like they contribute much to the plot yet. On the other hand, there are some interesting surprises towards the end.

Michael Avon Oeming handles the art for the main sections in Skartaris and he does a decent job although I don't think his style is that fitting here while John Timms continues handling the full team with solid success. The biggest surprise here is with Mike Grell returning to Warlord to draw the flashbacks and he's pretty good at it.

Mixed bag, not sure what to expect next.
