Some thoughts about Future State: Justice League #2

Can the Justice League defeat the Hyperclan?

The White Martians are back and are decided to take the role of the world's greatest superheroes and the only chance the team has is to finally start acting like one.

Joshua Williamson's little story comes to an end and just like most of the series in which he works on, I wish he was here for the long run.

The story continues right from the last cliffhanger with the antagonists being none other than the White Martians/Hyperclan from Grant Morrison's iconic JLA run. As usual with Williamson's work, one of the highlights is the characterization and this is especially clear once that the main team finally starts interacting with each other properly because of the little details they were able to get from their comrades like how Jon noticed that the new Batman actually hums to himself when he's fighting which of course, contributes to character development.

This also contributes to the plot due that what they know about each other is key to beat the antagonists who only considers the Justice League as complete strangers, making this whole theme really satisfying. Of course it wouldn't be a Williamson story without the references to continuity and there are a few to enjoy here.

Robson Rocha's art is pretty vibrant with expressive characters and precise storytelling.

Ram V also delivers the conclusion of his Justice League Dark story and, again, while is not as strong as Williamson's, he still manages to get most of the cast properly and gives a solid resolution to the Merlin story while promising more for the future. Marcio Takara's art is pretty clean and detailed.

Good read, one of the best Future State books no doubt.
