Whatever happened to Clark Kent?
People are still trying to figure out what happened to the old Superman without realizing that he's still fighting for all of them in another world.
Another Future State tie-in comes to a conclusion and this is definitely one of the densest from the entire line.
Phillip Kennedy Johnson brings the finale of this little story where he emphasizes what Superman represents in every sense of the world, seeking justice and freedom for all the people around him while this is also showcased in the different perspectives of the common people. The implementation of the gladiator theme and Mongul is also nicely done since it reinforces the premise. Mikel Janin's artwork is fantastic as usual with beautiful and precise storytelling.
Brandon Easton offers a new chapter of Mister Miracle which is short but well-written once again with a nice execution of New Gods technology and Shilo Norman as a whole. Valentine De Landro's pencils are pretty unique and detailed.
Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad also conclude their Midnighter story and this is a bit of a disappointment since it initially seemed like Midnighter was going to fight his lover Apollo when the latter is actually just a Cyborg disguised as Apollo which makes the whole conflict much less personal. That being said, the writer still get the protagonist fine enough and there are decent ideas going on here but I feel like the segment goes for a bit too long for the little plot there is. Michael Avon Oeming's artstyle is always distinctive and interesting to look at.
Finally Jeremy Adams finishes his Black Racer story and is... fine I guess but overly-short and doesn't make me care for the character at all. Siya Oum's art is equally as passable.
Overall, well-worth the investment despite of a few average moments.
