Some thoughts about Future State: Suicide Squad #2

Can the Suicide Squad face Amanda Waller?

Peacemaker has come from another world with a plan to defeat his former boss but he wasn't counting with Conner Kent's involvement in all of this.

Little better than the first one but still kinda of a mixed bag.

Robbie Thompson finishes this story and set-up for his upcoming Suicide Squad book at least in a better way than how Tim Sheridan did with Teen Titans. First of all, there's an actual plot going on here instead of simply "everyone dies, f*ck a proper resolution", and all of this heavily involves Peacemaker and credit where credit is due, I think Thompson gives him an interesting enough motivation and voice, his relationship with Waller is also decently depicted while creating a sorta compelling prologue for what's about to come.

On the other hand, I have a few problems to how Thompson writes Conner. There are aspects about the portrayal that I like as how he needs to figure out who he wants to be, and it doesn't have to be either a Luthor or a Kent. Then again, Conner here doesn't sound really like Conner here, the voice is completely off and his motivations seem rather out of character aside from his origins. This is not much of a surprise though considering how Thompson got most of the Teen Titans wrong during his run and I'm starting to think the reason why I liked his Peacemaker is because I barely know anything about the character.

Javier Fernandez' art is pretty on-point with clear expressions and storytelling.

The second feature about Black Adam written by Jeremy Adams finishes too and it has a decent amount of content for a second feature along with solid characterization and use of the Justice Legion but I think it ends pretty abruptly for the tale it was telling. Fernando Pasarin's art is vibrant and great all the way though.

Not bad, let's see how things go on in the future.
