Some thoughts about Batman #96

What's happening in Batman's head?

Bruce is suffering hallucinations because of the Joker's toxin and is facing some of his greatest fears now but the worst is yet to come.

A few good ideas that are just plagued with repetition.

James Tynion IV offers a new installment where he plays with the ramifications of the last one about Batman being infected by the Joker's toxin. The most interesting aspects here are when Bruce hallucinates about a possible future where he and basically everyone else were happy and of course, this ends in a pretty horrific way that is pretty similar to Tynion's classic work.

That being said, that idea is beating to the ground because of how many times such thing happens with very little difference between all the scenarios. Not to mention that is difficult to believe that the toxin would be so specific to create such particular settings. Plus, the issue is rather short so a repetitive concept becomes even worse because of the fast read. Finally, I believe that Scott Snyder did the whole hallucination theme better during his opening Court of Owls storyline (as if it wasn't surprising that Tynion is just following Snyder's ideas with a worse execution).

Jorge Jimenez's artwork is pretty good as always though with a beautiful and kinetic style that gets the best from action scenes.

Mixed bag once again. Not sure what to expect next.
