Some thoughts about DCeased: A Good Day to Die #1

The end of the world is here and only a group can save it.

Mister Terrifics and Big Barda survived the end of their own planet and they're willing to protect Earth but their good intentions might not be enough.

An one-shot centered around the DCeased universe is here and is actually a pretty stand-alone story.

Tom Taylor uses this installment as an opportunity to explore a few characters that he's not using in the main book and their reactions to the infection. There are multiple moments to appreciate here, particularly the ones focusing on the interaction between the cast, one has to love the relationship between Scott and Barda which even includes a few references to Tom King's Mister Terrific series (veggie plate!), as well as Mister Terrific entertaining dynamic with John Constantine and Blue Beetle and Booster Gold's friendship. Is just good character work.

Of course, this story is not bound to end well for most of the characters if you know something about zombie stories and Taylor makes the escalation to the final moments worth reading based on how much he made you care for them in this single issue. This also leads to upcoming stories in the main DCeased series so it was worth checking for that reason too.

Laura Braga and Darick Robertson share the pencils and they do a solid job during their respective sections thanks to the expressive style.

Entertaining read, I want to see more of this doomed world.
