Who can save Gotham?
Bane and a brand new Batman have taken over the whole city and neither heroes nor villains are safe. Only Gotham's true protector can fix all of this.
I guess it was too much to ask for something better.
I wasn't kidding when I said that I thought the previous issue was actually fairly good but I should have learned at this point that Tom King can't simply maintain consistent quality even if his life depends on it and is not like this issue doesn't have things to appreciate. Kite Man is portrayed decently here with his conflict about being villain and is not much of a surprise here since he falls into the category of obscure characters without really cemented characterization so King can do whatever he wants with him without fear of messing up.
THE PROBLEM comes once again when he tries to tackle established characters. Captain Atom appears being basically a stooge of the Government and bragging about his abilities and any fan of Nate Adam will tell you that he's one of the most humble persons around and, while he's a soldier, he still knows when to question people in higher positions. This portrayal is mostly an excuse to make Gotham Girl beating him feel more "satisfying" I guess (Because making a new character defeat a badly portrayed classic one is always a winning formula), but I don't think people give two sh*ts about Gotham Girl to enjoy this.
Also, the content was very scarce once again.
Tony Daniel's artwork is really good though with beautiful characters and strong action scenes.
Aside from that and speaking as a Captain Atom fan, this was just too much for me. Not recommended.
