Two of of the most powerful teams are about to clash.
Batman has found out about Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad and how dangerous it can be if is not controlled. However, there might be even bigger problems around since a powerful villain is about to resurface.
Sometimes is good to be wrong.
You see, I wasn't expecting much from this little event since it seemed like your typical "popular team Vs. popular team" story mostly made for a quick cash grab due to the recent Suicide Squad movie and the upcoming Justice League one. Plus, the early issues of Joshua Williamson on The Flash were not that impressive so it didn't give me a lot of hope.
However, The Flash has recently become really good and this first chapter follows the same trend fortunately.
It seems like Williamson has made his writing skills fit into the kind of tone that this kind of story should have by making the presentation much more cinematic than what we usually see from his works by creating an interesting opening that makes you invested into what happens next in the story.
Is necessary to mention that Williamson also managed to bring new life to the Suicide Squad, this is probably the most entertaining the team has been since their first series in the New 52, definitely much more enjoyable than how they appear in their own current book with better and much more accurate portrayals. The Justice League also receive a compelling characterization by questioning the nature of a team consisting of supervillains forced to fight for their freedom which creates a solid dilemma for the plot.
And it was cool to see that particular villain in his classic form at the end.
Jason Fabok contributes a lot to this issue success thanks to his great style that creates a huge sense of scale along with intense action scenes and imposing characters.
Promising beginning, hope it continues this way.
