Some thoughts about Scooby Apocalypse #1

Together again for the first time.

Velma Dinkley has done something terrible and there's only few people she can trusts to help her save the world from the apocalypse is about to come.

A new Hanna Barbera reinvention and yet another one that proves to be enjoyable.

Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis create an alternate universe where they explore the first meeting between the classic Scooby Doo cast and giving them new and interesting personalities based on their original traits. From Daphne being an egocentric reporter to Fred not being strong in terms of character to Shaggy caring for very little aside from food and his dog to Velma pushing her scientific mind to the extreme to Scooby being Scooby, etc. All of them seem different yet familiar.

The apocaliptic setting obviously changes the basic premise of the franchise but it still feels similar considering that the cast are still fighting monsters. The dialogue and character dynamic that is always present in these creator's works is obviously one of the best aspects here, the interaction between the group is pretty enjoyable and show their personalities perfectly.

Howard Porter handles the artwork and he certainly knows how to create an interesting looking future world with compelling creatures and a lot of complexity in the settings.

Pretty entertaining overall, intrigued about where the story is going.
