Some thoughts about Future Quest #1

The greatest heroes from the world are about to meet but not in the way one would expects.

Jonny Quest and Hadji are having their usual adventures when a strange threat started to be revealed and is connected to Jonny's father and several extraordinary beings.

The Hanna Barbara reboot officially starts here and there's no better way to do so.

Written by Jeff Parker, the story is focused on bringing the superhero, cosmic and adventure properties from the old Hanna Barbera cartoons together and in that sense it does a successful job. The story quickly presents a menace that connects a lot of the characters involved and while most of them don't really appear in this issue, their presence is still felt one way or the other.

The characters who do appear though, are pretty nicely portrayed. Seeing Jonny and Hadji having fun by flying in rocket packs is just classic and certainly will bring a smile to the face of many of the fans of the old cartoons while showcasing other characters like Birdman screaming his own name is a nice touch. There's mystery going on as well and it seems like the author has a lot of ideas about how he wants to develope it.

Doc Shaner and Steve Rude share the pencils and their work is pretty consistent during the course of the issue with a pretty classic style that is quite appropriate for the story and a precise storytelling skill.

Solid first entry, hope the next one brings more of the key players.
