Some thoughts about Afterlife with Archie #9

What's the problem with Reggie Mantle?

Reggie knows that he's culprit of causing the zombie apocalypse after killing Jughead's dog and now he's decided to pay for his crimes. However, his own nature might be his downfall.

I'm officially back to this series people and I'm glad for it.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa brings a new chapter where he focuses on the character of Reggie Mantle. Once again, Aguirre-Sacasa uses the basic premise of the character and reinvents it for this world in a complex, realistic and absolutely terrifying way.

The characterization is quite deep with the writer managing to make the character sympathetic despite of how misguiden his actions might be, is probably the most understandable and interesting portrayal the character has ever received. Nonetheless, the twist at the end makes you change your opinion quite drastically and creates a pretty intriguing development.

Francesco Francavilla returns to art duties and his work is beautiful in a pretty dark way with each character being expressive and horrific scenes being pretty detailed.

Excellent issue, hope I don't miss the next one this time.
