Some thoughts about Constantine: The Hellblazer #12

Constantine has lost everything.

John is trying to save his boyfriend's daughters but the Neron and his allies will prove to be smarter than he anticipated. Will he be able to find a way to stop them?

Once again, some things worked, others didn't.

Ming Doyle and James Tynion IV bring a new chapter where they make John face his own mistakes and how they affect everyone around him, especially his new boyfriend. The problem is that this is mostly caused because of John's own stupidity, in fact, the whole reason why all of this happened: The demons being against him, Oliver being tortured, his daughters being kidnapped, etc. was cause because of John being unable to make the right decision. I don't think this is a good way to portray a character who has always been known for being smart.

Plus, the rest of the cast try to oversell how smart he actually is by fearing how he might have planned something quite creative to beat his enemies and while that might seem the case (the plan hasn't been revealed yet), I simply don't buy it because of the characterization so far.

The art is not so much better either. Eryk Donovan handles the artwork and it looks pretty awkward at points with weird proportions for the characters and overall unpolished look. Oh, and Neron has pierced nipples. No comment.

Not digging this nor expecting a lot for the ending.
