Some thougths about Batman #34

The past has been reminisced, is time to focus on the present.

After dealing with the Joker's insanity, Batman is ready to protect his city from more usual crimes that while they might not be as groundbreaking, they're still terrible.

This issue is supposed to work as a bridge between the Zero Year arc and the upcoming End Game one and so far it's a success.

Scotty Snyder is accompanied this time by Gerry Duggan on writing and both complement each other perfectly by creating a great story concentrating on much more common but not less dangerous kind of criminal.

The way how the authors tell this tale is excellent since they're clearly aware of the things that Batman usually faces and exploit that aspect to make his confrontation with a typical murderer much more powerful. The plot builds-up perfectly and the ending is heartbreaking.

Mateo Scalera handles art duties for this chapter and he does a fantastic job at depicting the script the writers developed. His work is gothic and has a pretty unique and creepy style that really fitted the most disturbing scenes, especially the last one.

Outstanding issue and one of the best from this series, love these one-and-done tales.
